Write for Us
Updated 6 August 2026
Two things can hide behind the phrase "write for us", and they are opposites. Ours is the first one.
We commission and pay writers. If you can report a subject accurately and write plainly, we want to hear from you.
We do not accept guest posts. Unpaid submissions offered in exchange for a byline and a link are not commissioning — they are link placement wearing a writer's jacket. Those emails are not answered. See Advertise With Us.
What we publish
Practical answers to questions people actually ask, across money, technology, health, travel and the home. If you want a feel for the standard, read anything already on the site — particularly the pieces with a table in them.
The bar in one sentence: the article must contain something a reader cannot get from the first ten results already ranking for that question.
Usually that is one of:
- A number nobody else bothered to look up
- A calculation worked all the way through, not gestured at
- A screenshot of the thing actually happening
- A step every other guide skips because it is tedious to verify
What we look for in a pitch
Send one pitch, not five. It should be short:
- The question the article answers, phrased the way a reader would type it
- What your version has that the current results do not
- Where the facts come from — which primary sources you will use
- A link to something you have written, on any subject, anywhere
You do not need published clips in the section you are pitching. Clear writing and a habit of checking things transfer; subject familiarity is easier to acquire than either.
What we do not want
- Pitches that are a keyword with a headline attached
- Anything that starts "in today's fast-paced world"
- Articles generated by AI. We use AI for research and drafting and say so openly in our editorial policy — but a person has to have verified every claim and be willing to sign it. If you submit generated text as your own, we will find out, and that ends the relationship.
- Pitches for products you sell or are paid to promote
How it works
- You pitch. We reply within about a week, yes or no. A no is not a judgement on the writing — usually it means we have the topic covered or planned.
- We agree a brief and a fee before you start. You will never write on spec.
- You write and we edit. Expect real edits, and expect to be asked where a number came from.
- Your name goes on it. Along with a short bio and a link.
- We pay on publication.
Rates depend on length and how much research the piece needs. We tell you the fee before you write a word.
Corrections and accountability
If something you wrote turns out to be wrong, we correct it publicly with a dated note. We will tell you first. This is not held against you — every writer who works with real numbers gets one wrong eventually. Concealing it is the only version that ends a working relationship.
